Providing Project Management and Project Strategy Services to Support a Major Metro Client with Research and Development (R&D) Prioritisation

Our client had recognised that R&D projects had been undertaken within its organisation in a somewhat ad hoc manner and it was therefore concluded that a more structured approach was called for to develop a coherent R&D strategy. Touchstone Renard was pleased to be engaged to manage this programme of work and advise on future project strategy.

Our consultants developed a sophisticated database which assisted our client’s managers and engineers in identifying best practice for resourcing R&D needs. We were able to provide a high level of support based on our knowledge, understanding and experience of the rail industry structure, our client’s corporate structure, processes and business objectives and the available technology.

We took a general management perspective within the context of our client’s financial and non-financial organisational goals and identified the appropriate level of involvement of each of the various disciplines with our client’s organisation.

We succeeded in ensuring that the prioritisation of future R&D projects would benefit from the integration of a range of contributors and that the process would accurately reflect our client organisation’s real needs.
