Providing a Team of Project Strategy Consultants to Support a Significant Project for a Major Metro Client
Touchstone Renard’s client was undertaking a fundamental and far reaching programme to bring significant benefits across all project work carried out within its organisation. Best practice from other organisations, particularly other major rail services providers, was reviewed with a key objective of improving the governance and control of the full investment lifecycle of projects.
To bring this about, a new stage gate review process was to be used, supported by the necessary deliverable documentation at each stage. A wide range of information was required, coming in various forms, collectively described as ‘products’.
To show this full range, a Product matrix was created to provide project / programme managers with a framework for the successful delivery of projects. The detail behind the matrix needed to be provided, using Product Descriptions.
These were to be developed to provide an out-put based specification of what needed to be produced by a product / programme manager.
The overall programme consisted of 4 work streams with the majority of the Product Descriptions involving the ‘Design and Engineering’ work stream. It was this work stream that the Touchstone Renard team was asked to deliver, consisting of over 100 product descriptions, with the aim of restricting the number of specified processes to a minimum.
Once the project had neared completion, we were delighted when our client asked us to support the process of roll-out and training to managers and other staff across the organisation.
