Woking Rail Station and Train TimesTrains between London Waterloo and Woking leave at regular intervals, departing from Woking station at Platforms 1 and 2. For precise train times, visit NationalRail.co.uk. The station is only a short, two or three minutes walk from Touchstone Renard's office, on the first floor of Lynton House. The rail service to Woking has always been admirable since it first opened to the public in 1838 and Woking has an unusual history linked to the railway. The fast train from Nine Elms station, Vauxhall, to Woking Common took just under one hour in 1840, en route to Southampton. In 1854, in furtherance of the government's aims to move the burial grounds out of the capital, Woking's railway track was extended right inside Brookwood cemetery — the largest in the country — complete with stations, waiting rooms and other facilities for mourners. The cemetery and the railway provided a good reason for people to come to Woking and the new town of Woking was subsequently built on land owned by the same company as Brookwood cemetery.
