New Opportunities: Assignments Immediately Available (February 2008)

Vacancy: Project Engineers: Underground Railway

Role Purpose:

To act as the technical lead for the safe delivery of the project (a unique set of deliverables to a known time and cost - APM BoK 3) within the constraints of the project, and for ensuring that the engineering solution adopted satisfies the scope of the project and forms an integrated part of the railway system as a whole.

Responsible for ensuring that all:

• Engineering activities are undertaken in a safe and risk averse manner.
• Engineering deliverables and activities do not import risk to the railway system.
• Necessary safety and technical approvals are obtained.
• Engineering assurance information is produced by and for the project.

Key decisions made by this role:

• Determining the engineering solution.
• Acceptability of the design of the engineering solution.
• Acceptability of the engineering assurance.
• Provide guidance, particularly during conflict resolution.

Critical Experience:

• Engineering degree and chartered membership of an engineering institution.
• Demonstrable experience at a senior level in a relevant engineering discipline, ideally within the railway industry.
• Demonstrable experience across other engineering disciplines.
• Demonstrable experience in delivering engineering projects over the complete project life-cycle.
• Demonstrate understanding of applicable international, national, industry and rail/LU standards and regulatory requirements.

Consultants Needed

We are seeking a number of entry level consultants to join our team of professionals working within the underground and rail industries.

Ideally, you will have an engineering background (mechanical, electrical, communications, power, etc) and have worked within engineering. An understanding of underground or rail procedures, particularly assurance, would be helpful but is not essential as we will provide training on the specifics.

The work we do is challenging & focused and you will find working within our teams a rewarding experience in more than financial terms.

We need more qualified, professionals with preferably, though not essentially, rail experience to work in the areas of safety, assurance and compliance. You would join a team of like-minded individuals working on a project basis. You could be independent, available either full or part-time, or be seeking permanent employment status.
